Hi, I'm D.K. Smith. I run InteractiveBiz.com, a consulting firm that helps people and organizations make money and accomplish their non-financial goals through the Internet.
Like many entrepreneurs I have a varied background that includes jobs in: ad sales, consumer packaged goods marketing, and Director of Academic Technology at a K-12 private school.
More importantly, I've managed real-world businesses and taught college level "Business & Marketing" courses.
After starting and growing a commercial photography company for ten years, I sold it and started a multimedia firm that was bought by a major competitor.

Twelve years in ecommerce
My ecommerce career began in 1998. While studying multimedia at NYU, one of my instructors asked if I'd like some marketing work on an ecommerce project for a growing Internet company (you've very likely bought books from them... hint, hint).
Over the next few years I worked on projects for Fortune 500 companies and many of the dot-com stars of that time.
I registered "InteractiveBiz.com" on 12/2/98—and began using it for my consulting business in 2001—when I was sure that my ecommerce skills could help people make money.
Several months prior I had registered GetCustomers.com and soon launched the SEO firm that I now co-own and manage.
What goes around...
My online marketing techniques assume you are not a "sell them your product whether they need it or not" kind of person.

My reputation is everything
As the single father of a wonderful fourteen-year old girl I'm blessed to be able to play a major role in her development however; good parenting takes lots of time.
My reputation has become my biggest asset since it allows me the freedom to an active parent to my daughter—to work when I have the time, wherever I am, and for whomever I choose.
Very simply, I will not compromise my reputation for any amount of money. We will not accept an assignment unless I'm sure that my team and I can do an excellent job.
What do I really do?
I open peoples' eyes to things they don't see, but need to. Showing someone a new and better perspective to help her or him make money on the Internet is my idea of big fun!
Helping people turn their dreams into reality is a joy. One of my students wrote, "Born to teach!" across her evaluation of my Business & Marketing class. Just be forewarned...
I don't hold back from speaking the truth as I see it. A client once said, "We hired DK Smith because he was the only consultant honest enough to tell us we had an ugly baby."
Making a difference
The real purpose of life is not money, the purpose of life is living. I believe the true purpose of business is to make a difference in the world through your work.
